L'aliança de la nanobiomedicina a Catalunya
Nanobiomedicine is one of the major research strengths in Catalonia, a region that has pioneered in Spain in the creation of top-notch centres focused on the multidisciplinary integration of nano- and bio-technology. Barcelona is the second city in the world, after Boston, in the publication of scientific papers on nanobiomedicine (according to data from PubMed). Catalonia has a growing number of biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry companies either performing research or using nanotechnology in their processes.
Regarding this potential, BioNanoMed Catalunya, the nanobiomedicine alliance of Catalonia, is created and fostered by leading organisations carrying out research in nanotechnology and nanobiomedicine, with the aim of developing and and promoting this sector within the BioRegion of Catalonia.
Promoting synergies between Catalan research groups and centres, hospitals and companies, in order to create new research and business opportunities in nanobiomedicine, and increase their international impact.
Becoming a platform to promote the research performed on nanobiomedicine in Catalonia; defining the position of Catalonia in research, innovation and knowledge transfer; establishing internationalisation strategies and increasing the efficiency of the system; defending the common interests of the alliance members before local, national and international administrations to ensure inclusion in their work programs and funding instruments.
